Joy became involved with Kids & Art through Purvi Shah, who was her Senior Portfolio instructor at Academy of Art University, and then completely by chance, her colleague at BlogHer. There are certain people that are just destined to be a part of our lives, and Purvi was meant to be in Joy’s. When Purvi left BlogHer to focus on Kids & Art full-time, Joy didn’t hesitate when given the opportunity to work with her again. Joy started volunteering for Kids & Art in 2014, and continues to offer our design services for various marketing and fundraising events.

For Joy – as a mother of two and someone who’s family has been touched by cancer – it has been beyond fulfilling to be able to help bring the vision of Kids & Art to life. During their annual cornerstone fundraising event — with all the amazing art work around us, and all the radiant smiles — her husband turned to her and said, “You have to keep doing this". And we do. We do have to keep doing this.
